Privacy Policy
VocabTally helps you save vocabulary, translate study words, review progress, and keep your account in sync. This policy explains what information the app uses and how to contact us about it.
Information We Collect
- Account details such as your name, email address, sign-in provider, country, selected study language, and subscription plan.
- Vocabulary and study data, including saved words, translations, categories, notes, review progress, and activity history.
- Notification data needed to show reminders, account notices, and in-app messages.
- Analytics data such as app opens, onboarding completion, account and login events, word counts, paywall views, purchase status events, app/device identifiers, and basic product interaction data.
- Purchase and subscription status used to unlock Pro features, restore purchases, and support subscription troubleshooting.
- Basic technical data needed to operate secure login, sync, and subscriptions.
How We Use Information
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To save, sync, translate, and restore your vocabulary data.
- To provide study features, reminders, subscription access, support, and account deletion.
- To understand how people use VocabTally, improve the app, and measure whether onboarding, study, and subscription flows are working.
- To protect the service from abuse and fix operational issues.
Service Providers
VocabTally uses Supabase for account authentication, database storage, and server functions. VocabTally uses DeepL to translate words or phrases that you ask the app to translate. VocabTally uses Mixpanel to understand app usage and product interaction analytics, including account-linked events after you create or log in to an account. VocabTally uses RevenueCat to help manage subscription status. Subscriptions and payments are handled by Apple through the App Store; VocabTally does not receive your full payment card details.
Offline Language Resources
VocabTally may use bundled offline language resources to help validate words and assign learner-facing categories such as noun, verb, adjective, or adverb after a word is accepted. These lookups run locally in the app and do not require runtime internet lookup. Generated part-of-speech data is derived from Open English WordNet, licensed under CC BY 4.0, and Spanish WordNet / MCR 3.0 via Open Multilingual Wordnet, licensed under CC BY 3.0. The source data was transformed into compact lookup files for VocabTally.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, VocabTally may schedule study reminders or show account-related notices. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run VocabTally, comply with law, protect users, or work with the service providers described above.
Your Choices
You can edit account details, log out, clear local device data, reset account data, or permanently delete your account from Settings in the app. Account deletion removes your VocabTally account and synced app data, but it does not cancel an active App Store subscription; subscriptions can be managed from your App Store account settings. You can also contact support for help with privacy requests, including requests related to service-provider records.
